Wedding is one of the important days of your life. The preparation of wedding celebration takes 1 year to make your important day extravagant and remember for the rest of your life and to other person that is close to both partners.

I just want to share my experience preparing for my wedding.  Our first choose is a beach wedding but after we assess everything from the guess to our savings we decided to go with much more comfortable and affordable wedding celebration but an outstanding one.

Our best beach wedding choice:

Bali-Bali Beach Resort– they have good wedding packages and the place is semi private resort with a cool infinity pool.

Pearl Farm Resort- every person who wants beach wedding will really include pearl farm to be there top beach wedding venue in Davao. But there packages is much higher than other beach wedding package. We all know that pearl farm is a 5 star beach resort in the Philippines. So expect with their high price.

Pacific Little Secret Beach Resort- the result is located at Talicud Island and it is a private beach resort.  A true perfect beach wedding venue because you are facing the beautiful samal island with white powder beach sand. The resort is very much affordable and good for wedding and any celebration.

And the last will be at Canibad Beach Resort but we thing our friends and families will not like the long travel and the spelunking moves before reaching the beach shore of canibad.

Survivor Tv series is totally in trending right now. If you are dreaming for that kind of secret beach place then we have Mindanao has to many to offer. Samal Island has a secret hidden beach like Canibad beach. If you want to look for another undeveloped place but have the beach quality of Boracay then I will suggest you can go to Davao del Sur. Davao del Sur is known for their agriculture productivity they are not into tourism for now but in the future they will discover they have beautiful beaches. If you are familiar with Municipality of Sta. Maria then you are one step closer to what I called Isla Puting Balas.

Isla Puting Balas is known to be the KISULAD Beach Resort. A one hour ride of habal-habal( single motor cycle that is use to transport in a mountainous terrain) from Sta. Maria Davao del Sur. After passing the beautiful mountains of Sta. Maria you will reach the Kisulad Beach Resort. The beach has One to Two kilometer white sand shore.

You need to prepare yourself that there is no restaurant or any store near the beach line. You need to bring everything you want to, don’t worry because the place has electricity.

Kisulad Beach Resort simply offer there wonderful beach and nature. To all who like adventure this place will be the answer.

Looking for a private resort in much affordable way is very hard but worry no more because when I search over the resorts in Samal Island Davao, I found this very nice and stress reliever beach place in Talicud Island Samal. The resort is known as Pacific Little Secret Beach Resort.

Pacific Little Secret can be found in Talicud Island and can be reach by Big Motor Boat in Sta. Ana Warf. The boat owner of M/V Pacific is also the owner of that said resort. It is an hour ride from Sta. Ana warf.

You can rent the whole resort for a very affordable price with 20 person capacity. You can use their kitchen, stove, ref and other kitchen facilities. They also have nice rooms and havanas for your relaxing moment. They also have generators for back up supply of electricity. The electricity of talicud island is available at 6 PM to 5 AM.

For day tour, the rates are:

- A flat rate of Php 3,000 starting from 7 AM to 4 PM of the same day for the first 20 guests.
- Additional Php 100 per head in excess of 20 guests.
- Php 150 per hour usage fee if electricity is requested before 3 PM.
- No corkage fees on food, soft drinks and alcohol.

For the overnight:

- A flat fee of Php 6,000 per overnight stay starting from 7 AM to 3 PM the next day, limited to 15 guests only.

A Php 250 surcharge will be assessed each head in excess of 15.

- Php 150 per hour usage fee for electricity if requested between 06:00 AM to 03:00 PM.

Craving for pizza while driving around downtown Davao, we know that we shouldn’t be dining at Picobello or La Toscana this time around for two reasons. One, we already had so much from these pizza restos. Two is that we have shopped for some clothes earlier so it’s time to cool down our pockets. But because we really want to have pizza and we recalled passing by a simple pizza parlor a week ago, we were able to eat what we wished for.

When we hear of long weekends, holidays, and days off, we are always looking forward to spend time to rest, have fun, or bond with our family and friends. Holy Week is one of the times when people either do their penance or take a vacation. For those who are spending this time for vacation, everything is stress-free as there’s no need to file for vacation leave or be absent from work.

If you are planning a reasonably priced vacation just within or near Davao City, there are affordable beach resorts that could accommodate you and your travel buddies. Samal Island and Talicud Island are the top destinations for local and foreign tourists especially now that the Summer heat has started.

Kaputian Beach Resort

1.       Kaputian Beach Resort is the most affordable beach resort in Samal Island, just one ride from Sta. Ana Wharf via Motorized Pump boat.  The fare is 60php to Kaputian Wharf and a walking distance of about 10 minutes will lead you to this white sand beach. If you are not that prepared, food is not a problem as there are canteens/eateries inside and outside the resort.

2.      CanibadBeach Resort is once called the secret paradise of Samal due to its distance which makes it isolated from the popular beaches of Penaplata. The place is located at Barangay Andanao,  one hour ride from Babak. You will have a very bumpy ride going to Canibad. In Canibad, people usually bring their tents as the place is not yet that developed.

3.       Maxima Aqua Adventure is the best resort for water adventure. If you love to jump in the deep blue sea, this is the place for you. They have a diving board for you to experience jumping from 15 feet above the water. They also have a giant slide which people of different ages enjoy.

4.       Hagimit Falls is a perfect place to refresh after having your great time from the beach. This place is also one of the cheapest destinations in Samal Island. Entrance fee is only 20Php for you to enjoy Samal’s famous water falls.

5.       IslaReta Beach Resort is located at Talicud Island. The resort has its own boat operating the Sta.Ana-Davao Wharf route. The one-way fare is just 80 pesos. There’s minimal entrance fee depending if you are taking a day tour or spend overnight.

One of the reasons why the Philippines has become a tourist hub is that foreigners and locals can enjoy the beautiful beaches wherever in the Philippines they are. The white sand, crystal clear water and the heat of the summer sun make the perfect beach scenarios in the country.

What more way to enjoy the beach? It’s by attending the biggest beach festival in Mindanao! The festival I am talking about is the Sarangani Bay Festival.

Sarangani Bay Festival, or more commonly known as the SarBay Fest, is celebrated around May in the municipality of Glan. Almost every year, the festival is held in Gumasa Beach, a beautiful shore in Sarangani.

The festival has a lot to offer to whoever comes. First, there are various beach sports competition such as volleyball and Frisbee. Then, there’s the sand sculpture competition where you will be wowed with the works of sand art from the delicate hands of the talented artists. Since Sarangani Bay is also a favorite spot for skimboarding, an exhibition of the sport is also an attraction during the festival. During nightfall, you will enjoy a groovy and eye-catching fire dance and fireworks. Then, one of the most awaited events in the festival would happen. It is the Bay Bikini Open where guys and gals who have the really good-looking bodies compete for a title. You can guess that this is the most awaited part of guys as they get to see girls’ beautiful bodies. Well, women are as lucky as there’s also the men’s category with lots of abs and biceps.

To end the festival, usually a sunset to sunrise rave party full of dance electronic music, booze, and party people takes place. It’s a party-all-you-want until you drop in Sarangani. This is also a great time to socialize with people as every year, attendees are said to be growing in number. You can meet new friends or possibly start a romantic relationship from one of the people there.

The Sarangani Bay Festival is the best way to end the summer season with a bang!

How do you get there, you may ask. If you are from Manila or Cebu, you can ride an airplane and land in the international airport of General Santos City. From there, there are air-conditioned vans that offer you privacy through your whole travel to Sarangani. Or, if you are kind of cutting on the budget, there are also public vans that can travel around an hour from General Santos to the event venue. If you are from Davao, simply contact a van to take you directly to Sarangani. That is the best way possible!

Some resorts offer luxury. Some resorts offer affordability. Some resorts offer rest and relaxation. Now, I can only count the resorts that can offer an experience that will make you bond with whoever you are with. In fact, there was just only one resort so far that I have been to that gave me such experience.

I am talking about Camp Holiday.

Camp Holiday is a resort located in Samal Island. It is becoming a favorite among tourists and locals alike because of mainly one reason: it is very accessible. You’d be surprised to know that it is just right beside the wharf! Well, not really beside but it would just take you a short walk to go there.

Another reason why many people are going to Camp Holiday is that it is also very affordable. When we went there, the entrance fee was just Php80. I’m pretty sure they retained the same price up to now. You can also bring meat to grill. They don’t charge you with that. There are grilling stations around the place to cook the meat. The only setback is that if you bring cooked food and bottles of soft drinks, you will be charged with corkage. Though, the corkage isn’t that high.
They have cottages for you who want to have a little private space during your stay. Or, there’s also a spot where tables are just lined up for those who want to share space with other people and socialize. Their beach area isn’t that spacious is already enough for leisurely swimming while chatting with your loved ones. They also have a kiddie pool if you are with kids and are a little worried of their safety in the beach.

They also have air-conditioned rooms if you would want to stay overnight. Overnight rate is Php150 per person. They also have tents for only Php200 rentals. But, you can bring your own tent and pitch it in their vast camp ground. The whole resort is also Wi-Fi enabled. So, you can update your social media and let your network know that you are having fun at Camp Holiday
They also have a restaurant that serve really good food. Well, I might be a little biased because when I was there, the restaurant’s chef was my friend so I know the food is good. And yes, I got a discount. I haven’t been in contact with him lately but if he’s still the chef of the restaurant, then I can tell you that you will be eating the meal of your life there.

Luckily, the Philippines is a country full of beaches that one will never be out of choices. So here, I give you the Top 5 Beach Destinations in Samal Island.

Before anything else, let me tell you general information about Samal. Samal is an island in the Davao Region that is a favorite among foreigners and locals. From Davao City, it is accessible through ferry boats and barges. And, it would only take less than an hour to travel across. So, are you ready?

Here is the Top 5 Beach Destinations in Samal Island.

5 – Dayang BeachResort

Dayang Beach Resort is a resort in Samal Island that offers serenity and privacy. Although it is open to anyone anytime, the location of the resort makes it possible for you to experience peace. Dayang is located at the very far end of the island. You have to travel for almost 2 hours to get here. The resort is able to give you amenities that are costly in other resorts. They have a store where you can buy rice, charcoal, water, and other necessities at a very low price. They also allow grilling. They do not have any corkage so you can bring whatever you want to bring. The only reason why I put this at the last spot on the list is its accessibility. There is only one schedule every week of the ferry from Davao City to the resort. If you miss that, you can still go here but you have to go to another rout and spend more money on fare.

4 – Camp Holiday

Camp Holiday is where people who would like to have a simple beach day with just food and swimming at a place that is easily accessible. Camp Holiday has a cheap entrance fee. They have grilling stations, a kiddie pool, airconditioned rooms, tent rentals, and small cottages. You will enjoy in this resort if you are for swimming and won’t mind the crowd. There are three reasons why this is only on the 4th spot: (a) they charge high corkage; (b) at times, the crowd gets really too thick and you may not stand the noise; and (c) it gets kind of awkward to swim in their beach and see a ferry approach the dock that is just adjacent the resort.

3 – Isla Reta

I have been to Isla Reta a couple of times before and from first-hand experience, I must say that this is the perfect resort for people who want to soak in the sun and enjoy the crystal clear water. Isla Reta has almost the same entrance fee rates as Camp Holiday. But unlike most resorts, this one’s a little farther and it would take almost an hour travel. But, the long travel will pay off once you set foot in the powdery white sand of Isla Reta. Like most resorts, you are allowed to grill pork or chicken or any kind. They also have a wide shore where you can play beach games. Their beach is also clean so when you dip yourself here, you wouldn’t want to get out. Isla Reta would have been a perfect resort if only it can give more comfort. They have overnight bunkers but most of them are not aircoinditioned and most faucets give out saltwater so you wouldn’t really get to wash yourself properly.

2 – Bali-Bali

This resort deserves its spot. Bali-Bali is just a small resort about 20 minutes away from the city. It has 6 villas where each one can accommodate up to 4 people. During my first time here, I was very much loving the privacy it gave us. Although it isn’t totally private, but because of the limited rooms, you would feel that the whole place is yours. The resort has a medium-sized beach and a wide shore where you can lay yourself under the taning heat of the sun. They also have a narrow but long infinity pool that runs through the six villas. They also allow cooking there so you can cook almost any kind of food you want to eat. And their amenities? Awesome! The rooms are airconditioned with perfectly designed interior art. Some rooms are Asian-inspired while some are Carribean or Mediterranean. Weirdly, the part that I most loved here was their bathroom. It was very spacious and clean. I loved the idea that the bathroom has a small extension with no roof so you get to take a hot or cold shower in the natural light of the sun.

1 – Pearl Farm

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think Pearl Farm Beach Resort might be the most expensive resort on the island. Well, you would get your money’s worth anyway. There is nothing bad to say about the resort. From the travel to the resort up until the end of your stay, you are treated with god service and luxury. You would be welcomed with drinks upon your arrival in the resort. You will also not worry about the food as they are part of what you paid for. The meals include breakfast, lunch and dinner. And, I must say that you will surely have your stomach full with their delicious variety of food offered each meal. You also have a lot of choices when it comes to swimming. They have a really wide beach and two swimming pools. Their rooms are also first-class, the amenities are complete.

It’s the time of the year again when malls and parks are out and beaches and pools are in. That’s right, it’s summer time! There is no better way to spend the summer but with the refreshing immersion in the cool waters. Now, if you are someone who finds it complicated to cross the sea to another island just to be able to enjoy the summer, you don’t have to worry. There are resorts within the city that gives you the same experience. They are called inland resorts as they are located in the middle of a land. I couldn’t put it any better than that.

To help you decide where to spend the summer time, here’s the Top 5 Inland Resorts in Davao City:

5 – Feliz Resort

Located in the heart of the city at Matina Aplaya, Davao City, Feliz Resort gives a simple but unforgettable summer experience. I had been to the resort for the first time recently. During that time, I had no plans of going in the water because I was just going to attend to my godson’s birthday party. But yes, I regretted not bringing clothes. There were a few other people in the pool area that seemed to be really enjoying the swim. I wanted to jump in the pool right then. The pool is quite large and clean. There are also grilling areas around that let you grill meat. The entrance is less than a hundred pesos. It’s really cheap. Contrary to belief, Feliz Resort is actually a peaceful place and you will be able to enjoy the summer without too much noise.

4 – Forest Hill

Like Feliz Resort, I have been to Forest Hill only once but it was a nice experience. It is located in Bangkal area. The entrance is a hundred pesos but they only charge small corkage for food and drinks you bring. In fact, I think we weren’t charged at all when we were there. As far as I could remember, there are 3 pools. Two pools are for kids and one pool that is deeper for adults. There are cottages surrounding the pool so you are free to choose where to stay. It’s perfect for people who don’t mind a large crowd and would just want to quench the heat brought by the summer sun.

3 – Jones Beach Resort

Jones Beach Resort is located in Talomo area. The entrance to the pool area is a hundred pesos. This comes with a free cottage use. The pool area is also large. It houses two pools; one for kids and one for adults. The good thing about Jones Beach Resort is that if you paid for an entrance fee in the pool area, you are free to use the grilling stations in the beach area and even bathe in the beach. It’s a little crowded here but who cares? We are all for fun and socialization this summer!

2 – Mergrande Beach Resort

Located in Dumoy, Mergrande Beach Resort offers an experience. The whole resort is very large. The entrance is only PHP25 though you have to pay for the cottage separately. But, the cottages aren’t that expensive so you don’t have to worry about spending too much. There is also a separate fee for the pool use. Though the paying scheme might overwhelm you, you will actually get your money’s worth. There are many areas in the resort where you can peacefully bathe in the sun and get a tan. They have a playground, a mini-golf course and a fish pond as well. The pool has also slides so you can have fun.

1 – Eden Nature Park

At the top of the list is Eden Nature Park. This one isn’t like a resort really but more of a nature park with a resort in it. It’s a little expensive but the place is huge. Really huge that you need to ride a cart to be able to see the whole place. The pool area is located at a far end of the place. Here, you can swim all you want. Here’s a plus. Because it is located in an elevated place, the temperature here is slightly cooler even at summer time. It’s a nice break from the uncomfortable heat. There are also activities like zipline, Indiana Jones, hiking and a lot more. You can think of it as an all-in-one package. It’s worth it, right?

So, there. The Top 5 Inland Resorts in Davao City. There are many other inland resorts in the city but I think that these five are actually the best of them.

After 3 hours ride from Davao City finally we arrive at Dahican, Mati Davao Oriental. We check in at Botona beach resort to have a pleasant and wonderful vacation. Then we unloading our things and have a little rest we go directly to Dahican Surf Resort a perfect place for an outdoor water adventure called SKIM BOARDING.

This is not  a first time but ridding a skim board but the place and the water of dahican is first to me. Woowwwhhuuuhhh… The place is perfect the weather is awesome so I rent a skim board at dahican surf resort and ride the water of dahican beach.

Everything is perfect for this kind of sport, I saw surfer at the blue part of the beach waiting for a perfect wave to ride.  Dahican Beach in Mati is a perfect and best place for skim boarding and surfing in the Philippines. They have the amazing waves for these sports.

If you want to visit dahican you need to try there skim boarding activity. Dahican has many ways to love and enjoy!!!

Vacation at Pearl Farm Resort Samal Davao

If I was given a chance to go back and pick a moment that I can re-play over and over again, I could only think of one thing. I would choose to go over my Pearl Farm Beach Resort experience again and again.
I am not the richest man on Earth. I’m not even rich enough to have Starbucks as my coffee in the morning every day. This is why I considered the time that I went to Pearl Farm a one-of-a-kind experience.

Pearl Farm is probably the most expensive resort in Samal as far as I know. I want to share my experience to you because I know for sure you will be enticed to do the same.

I woke up at dawn not because I was too excited but because I had to leave the house early as the meeting place and the wharf of the boat that would take us to the resort is very far from where I live. It’s almost a 2-hour drive and we were told to be there at 7:30AM.

Even in the wharf, you can already sense the luxury. There was a small house that looked to me like a restaurant. There is also a souvenir shop and a small field where you can wait until your ferry arrives. Within minutes, we were already on the ferry. The travel time was around 40-45 minutes.

When we arrived at their pagoda, we were welcomed with drinks and a short orientation of the rooms and what your payment includes. Basically, you will pay for your room accommodation but it already includes your breakfast, lunch, and dinner and you are free to use majority of the amenities in the resort.

They have different rooms with different sizes and prices. We got the cheapest room at around PHP 5,000 per person. When I got in the room, I already swore that I will come back here. The room had three beds complete with pillows and blankets. It is air conditioned, equipped with a cable TV, a mini-refrigerator with snacks and a closet for your clothes. I have this thing with accommodation rooms where I always enter and check the bathroom first. When I did, it was the best bathroom I had seen! It was so spacious that you can even fit one more bed in it. The resort also provides toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, towels and slippers. So, you just worry about bringing your clothes because everything else is provided. I was starting to think that I am getting my money’s worth already.

But, it doesn’t stop there. They have two swimming pools and one of it is an infinity pool facing the sea. You are free to swim in any of the two and in the beach for as long as you want. The only downside is that the pools are really far from our room. Our rooms are located at the top of the hill so you have to go up and down a man-made staircase to get to the pool. It’s also what we have to do when it’s time to eat.

Speaking of eating, I have no words for the food they are serving. The regular meals are scheduled. Our first meal was lunch and then dinner. We had our breakfast the next day. Their food was so delicious. Not only that, it was so variant that it’s hard to choose what to eat. Their meals are in buffet style so you can pretty much have everything you want to eat and go back as many times as you can. Every meal, I was full! Among their menu are cuisines from France, Thailand, Vietnam, and of course, Philippines.

Pearl Farm Beach Resort is the perfect place for people like me who wants to relax and not worry about a lot of things even for just a day. Here, you are treated like a monarch. My experience would have been better if I did not have any gadget to distract me there and instead just have a book to read.

The resort also has a Day Tour Package for those who just want to experience a little bit of heaven their and prefer to not spend the night. I think it costs around PHP 1,500.

When I was a kid, my parents would regularly bring me and my sister to anywhere in the city on Sunday afternoons. Yes, we were kind of rich back then and we can afford a weekly vacation. Now, we’re still rich but we kind of got matured to not spend money on useless things.

 That was a joke, of course. But, the thing about me being brought to many places in Davao City is true. I could still clearly remember what my favourite place was. It was the Gap Farm.

Gap Farm is located at Diversion Road, Ma-a, Davao City. It has a very wide area of green grass and trees and man-made sculptures and infrastructures. Entrance fee of Php 40.00 and Pools Fee is Php 50.00

When we first went there, I was anxious to go as there was a very huge sculpture of a farmer riding a carabao in the entrance part. It scared the hell out of me! I couldn’t remember what my parents did that time. All I could remember was that we were already inside.

Inside, well, it is a farm if I would have to define farm as a large expanse of green land. Like many children, I was already contented when there is a playground. They did have a playground! I was with some of my kid friends with their parents there so we played and played until we ran out of breathe. You can’t blame us, we’re young. You might even be guilty of such.

Another interesting part in the farm is that they have sections there with life-sized sculptures of animals and Filipino mythical creatures. I enjoyed with the animal sculptures. I don’t want to go back to the memory with the mythical creature sculptures.

There was also a pool and it was a big one, not Olympic-sized but enough to make you feel cool on a hot weather.

Our time there was made perfect because of the picnic food we brought. I seriously think that Gap Farm is the perfect place to have a picnic and bond with your family. The location is also perfect because it is a little elevated and the wind is breezy. So, even on a hot summer day, you won’t feel hot because there is wind blowing every now and then.

It took 14 years for me to go back to Gap Farm and while I was expecting that things would change drastically, it did not. Everything pretty much stayed the same. The only difference I noticed was that they already had a functioning restaurant that serves good food.

Gap Farm is most probably the perfect place for family and friends bonding. I think Gap Farm is here to stay. As long as there are families who want to bond, it is here to stay.

It’s been a decade since I went to this first class resort in Davao, Samal Island. Pearl Farm is a 4 star Beach Resort in the Philippines. I’ve been to many resorts Boracay and Palawan but Pearl Farm offers different happiness and relaxation.

Pearl Farm Resort is newly renovated and our weekend vacation with my officemate from Just Simply Outsourcing Worldwide was really awesomeness. We really enjoy the service of the pearl farm employee; the room was so clean and organize. Our sleep was so much comfortable as what we expect. The toiletries are complete with matching free fruits and coffee.

The pearl farm maranao restaurant offers buffet for only Php 1100 you can enjoy every food that they serve if you don’t want to try there buffet you can order foods on their menu.

If you feel to go at malipano island just 5 to 10 minutes away from the main resort you just book at the parola for a free ride.

Our team totally enjoy at the malipano island because we rent a jetski and swim to their perfect beach shore.

At night we swim at their infinity pool until 9:00 PM, after the pool you can also jump at the beach.
